Perforated Wood Panels

Timberix™ perforated wood panels are made with a 2-layer perforation structure, which traps and diffracts sound in the holes. The sound that passes through the perforations is further absorbed by an acoustic substrate such as fiberglass or mineral wool, which reduces reverberation in the room. The perforation comes in many sizes, from 3mm to 8mm. With smaller holes, you have panels that are better at attenuating low-frequency sounds. But with larger holes, you get wooden panels that are better at reducing high-frequency sounds.

To ensure the quality of our perforated wood panels, Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is recognized as the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Our wooden perforated acoustic panels are made up of a series of perforations. Each panel has a machined groove joint for seamless or gap joinery. The first alphabet refers to the hole arrangement (E is linear, and V is staggered), the second pair of numbers refers to the distance between the two holes, and the last number refers to the hole diameter. The base material can be made of MDF, fire-resistant MDF, eco-friendly MDF, black MDF, 3-layer composite, 5-layer composite or OSB.

Preparation & Installation of Perforated Plywood

Preparation

  1. The place of installation must be dry, with a temperature of at least 10 degrees Celsius.
  2. Humidity levels should be kept between 40% to 60%.
  3. Timberix™ perforated wood panels must be placed on site for at least 48 hours in order to adapt to environmental conditions.

Installation

  1. Mark out the placement of Timberix™ panels, and take into account M&E positions.
  2. Decide the type of installation system to use.
  3. Install the acoustic substrate of choice.
  4. For wood laminate and veneer finishes, ensure that panels are installed with matching grain directions.
  5. Clean the surface of the Timberix™ perforated wood panels with compressed air and gently wipe with a dry cloth.
