Micro Perforated Wood Panels

Timberix™ microperforated wood panels are crafted with precision, featuring a 2-layer perforation structure that traps and diffuses sound in the holes. The sound is then further absorbed by an acoustic substrate, either fiberglass or wool, reducing the reverberation in the room.

Each acoustic panel integrates micro perforations with a diameter of just 0.5mm, which is only perceptible at a short eye distance (+/- 250 000 holes/m2), ensuring a seamless design. Backed by eco-friendly materials such as MDF or composite boards, these panels deliver quality acoustic performance and sustainability.

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Specifications for Timberix™ Microperforated

The Timberix™ microperforated acoustic panels are available in six standard patterns. Each perforated wood panel has a machined groove joint for seamless or gap joinery. The first alphabet refers to the hole arrangement (E is linear, and V is staggered), the second pair of numbers refers to the distance between the two holes, and the last number refers to the hole diameter. The base material can be made of MDF, fire-resistant MDF, eco-friendly MDF, black MDF, 3-layer composite, 5-layer composite or OSB.

What sets Timberix™ apart is our commitment to sustainability—our eco-friendly acoustic panels emit low VOC emissions and adhere to environmentally responsible production methods. This ensures that you are not only investing in high-performance acoustic panels but also supporting eco-conscious practices.

Our microperforated wood panels deliver a perfect balance of sound control and durability, offering lasting value for commercial spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Micro perforated refers to a material that has been precisely punctured with a high density of very small holes, typically less than 2mm in diameter. These tiny holes are strategically arranged to achieve specific acoustic properties.

Microperforated acoustic panels are designed to absorb sound waves and control reverberation within a space. They feature a pattern of holes that allow sound energy to pass through the panel and be absorbed by an acoustic material behind it. This helps reduce noise levels and improve sound clarity.

Microperforated acoustic panels are used in a wide range of applications where acoustic control is critical. They are commonly found in:

  • Offices and conference rooms: To improve speech intelligibility and reduce distractions.
  • Auditoriums and theatres: To optimize sound quality and create a more immersive experience.
  • Schools and classrooms: To minimize noise disruptions and create a better learning environment.
  • Restaurants and cafes: To control noise levels and create a more comfortable atmosphere.

This depends on the specific needs of your project. Factors to consider when choosing the right microperforated acoustic panels include the desired level of sound absorption, design preferences, budget, and environmental considerations. It’s recommended to consult with an expert or supplier to determine the most suitable panel for your application.

For those exploring durable and sustainable acoustic panels, Timberix™ offers a variety of options. This includes grooved wood panels and standard perforated wood panels, each with its own unique design and performance characteristics.

Microperforated wood panels can be crafted from a variety of materials to suit diverse project needs and design preferences. At Timberix™, we offer a selection of eco-conscious options, such as E1 MDF, fire-resistant MDF, and MgO composite.
