Microgrooved 8/3

Timberix™ wooden micrgrooved acoustic panel is made up of a series of slats and grooves. Each panel has a machined tongue and groove joint for a seamless joinery. The first number refers to the slat size (8mm) and second number refers to the groove size (3mm). The surface comes in 4 types of finishing: paint, melamine, PP, and veneer. The base material can be made of MDF, fire-resistant MDF, eco-friendly MDF, black MDF, 3-layer composite, 5-layer composite or OSB.

A vertical black Timberix Microgrooved Panel is centered against a light background, with three bright green leaves positioned in the corners.

Sound Absorption Coefficient

A graph showing absorption coefficient (α) vs. 1/3 octave center frequency (Hz) for 25mm Rockwool and Timberix Microgrooved Panels. The absorption peaks above 1.1 between 315 Hz and 1250 Hz, then declines toward 5000 Hz.

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Microgrooved 8/3 panel from Timberix™ is a wood acoustic board with 8 mm slats and 3 mm grooves, engineered to help reduce sound reflections and improve room acoustics while offering a refined timber finish for walls and ceilings.

Its fine series of micro-grooves increases surface area and traps and diffuses sound waves, making it easier for an acoustic substrate (like mineral wool or fibreglass behind the panel) to absorb sound energy and reduce echo and reverberation.

These panels are ideal for walls and ceilings in spaces that need acoustic attention — such as offices, studios, classrooms, libraries, and commercial interiors — where both visual appeal and echo control matter.

Yes — the Microgrooved 8/3 panels come with various finishing options including paint, melamine, polypropylene (PP), and wood veneer, so they integrate with diverse architectural and interior aesthetics.

Absolutely. Timberix™ Microgrooved panels are made from eco-friendly, recyclable materials, and are acoustically tested to ISO 354 standards, which means their sound absorption performance is verified in controlled reverberation room setups.
