Milliperforated E 4/4/1

Timberix™ Milliperforated panel is made with a 2-layer perforation structure, which traps and diffracts sound in the holes. The sound that passes through the perforation is further absorbed by acoustic substrate such as fiberglass or mineral wool, which reduces reverberation in the room. The perforation of 1mm to 3mm micro-holes is only perceptible at a short eye distance (+/- 250 000 holes/m2) and laminated on a 15mm thick perforated MDF eco-friendly board.

Technical Drawing

The Timberix™ E 4/4/1 perforated panel features 1mm diameter linear perforation spaced 4mm apart. The design efficiently diffuses and absorbs sound, making it ideal for sound-sensitive environments.

Non-perforated

Sound Absorption

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Milliperforated E 4/4/1 is a precision-perforated wood acoustic panel featuring extremely small perforations (micro-holes) in a linear (E) pattern where holes are spaced at 4 mm intervals with ~1 mm diameter. It’s engineered to trap and diffuse sound while providing a refined timber finish.

This panel uses a two-layer perforation structure: sound enters the tiny holes and is diffracted and guided into a backing acoustic substrate (such as fibreglass or mineral wool), where the energy is absorbed. This reduces echo and reverberation, improving clarity and comfort in interior spaces.

It’s ideal for walls and ceilings in spaces with challenging acoustics, including offices, auditoriums, libraries, studios, and commercial interiors, where softening reflective noise and maintaining a natural wood aesthetic matter.

The “E” indicates a linear perforation layout, the first “4” represents horizontal spacing, the second “4” represents vertical spacing between perforations, and the “1” refers to the 1 mm hole diameter, which together define the panel’s acoustic and visual performance characteristics.

Yes — Milliperforated acoustic panels from Timberix are made from eco-friendly, recyclable materials and can be paired with backing materials that meet ISO 354 testing standards for sound absorption. They also come in a range of finishes (melamine, veneer, paint, PP) and base materials (MDF, FR MDF, composite) to suit design and safety needs.
