Milliperforated E 8/8/3

Timberix™ Milliperforated panel is made with a 2-layer perforation structure, which traps and diffracts sound in the holes. The sound that passes through the perforation is further absorbed by acoustic substrate such as fiberglass or mineral wool, which reduces reverberation in the room. The perforation of 1mm to 3mm micro-holes is only perceptible at a short eye distance (+/- 250 000 holes/m2) and laminated on a 15mm thick perforated MDF eco-friendly board.

Technical Drawing

The Timberix™ E 8/8/3 perforated panel features 3mm diameter linear perforation spaced 8mm apart. The design efficiently diffuses and absorbs sound, making it ideal for sound-sensitive environments.

Non-perforated

Sound Absorption

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Milliperforated E 8/8/3 is a timber acoustic panel with 3 mm diameter perforations spaced 8 mm apart in a linear (E) pattern manufactured by Timberix™, designed with a two-layer perforation structure that traps and diffracts sound before it’s absorbed by a backing material like mineral wool or fibreglass to reduce reverberation in interior spaces.

The small, precisely machined holes allow sound waves to enter the panel and be guided into the perforations and then into an acoustic substrate behind the surface, where the energy is absorbed, which significantly reduces echo and reverberation in treated environments such as offices, auditoriums, or commercial interiors.

This panel is ideal for walls and ceilings in sound-sensitive spaces like conference rooms, studios, libraries, open offices, and public areas where enhanced speech clarity and reduced ambient noise are important while preserving a refined wood aesthetic.

In the Timberix naming system, “E” indicates a linear perforation layout, the first “8” and second “8” refer to horizontal and vertical hole spacing (8 mm), and the final number “3” refers to the 3 mm diameter micro-holes, which together define the acoustic interaction and visual pattern on the timber panel.

Yes — these panels are made from eco-friendly, recyclable timber materials, and when used with proper acoustic substrates they contribute to measurable sound absorption performance consistent with industry acoustic design standards, helping lower reverberation times and improve comfort in interior environments.
