Grooved 28/4

Timberix™ wooden grooved acoustic panel is made up of a series of slats and grooves. Each panel has a machined tongue and groove joint for a seamless joinery. The first number refers to the slat size (28mm) and second number refers to the groove size (4mm). The surface comes in 4 types of finishing: paint, melamine, PP, and veneer. The base material can be made of MDF, fire-resistant MDF, eco-friendly MDF, black MDF, 3-layer composite, 5-layer composite or OSB.

Sound Absorption Coefficient

A graph shows absorption coefficient versus frequency for 25mm rockwool (60kg/m³), a material often used behind Timberix Grooved Acoustic Panels. The absorption peaks at 0.9 near 1000 Hz, then declines as frequency approaches 5000 Hz.

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Timberix™ Grooved 28/4 panel is a timber acoustic panel featuring 28 mm wide slats and 4 mm grooves. The grooved face, combined with a precision tongue-and-groove joinery, creates a seamless wood surface that helps diffuse and absorb sound in interiors.

Sound waves are trapped in the grooves and diffuse across the timber surface, allowing an underlying acoustic substrate (such as rock wool) to absorb the energy. This reduces echo and reverberation, especially in sound-sensitive spaces.

These panels can be manufactured with base materials like MDF, fire-resistant MDF, eco-friendly MDF, black MDF, composite boards, or OSB, and finished with paint, melamine, polypropylene (PP), or natural wood veneer to match a variety of interior styles.

They’re ideal for installations in offices, libraries, classrooms, auditoriums, hotels, and other commercial or public interiors where controlled acoustics and aesthetic wood finishes are desired.

Yes — Grooved 28/4 panels are ISO 354-tested for sound absorption performance and designed with eco-friendly recyclable materials, contributing to sustainable acoustic design solutions.
