Microgrooved 8/2

Timberix™ wooden micrgrooved acoustic panel is made up of a series of slats and grooves. Each panel has a machined tongue and groove joint for a seamless joinery. The first number refers to the slat size (8mm) and second number refers to the groove size (2mm). The surface comes in 4 types of finishing: paint, melamine, PP, and veneer. The base material can be made of MDF, fire-resistant MDF, eco-friendly MDF, black MDF, 3-layer composite, 5-layer composite or OSB.

A rectangular brown Timberix Microgrooved Panel is placed vertically on a light gray background, with two green palm leaves partially visible on the left and bottom right sides.

Sound Absorption Coefficient

Graph showing absorption coefficient (α) versus frequency (Hz) for 25mm Rockwool, often used behind Timberix Microgrooved Panels. The curve peaks above 1.0 between 315 Hz and 1250 Hz, dropping below 0.7 at 5000 Hz.

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the method of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Microgrooved 8/2 is a timber acoustic panel featuring fine 8 mm slats and 2 mm grooves that help diffuse sound and improve room acoustics. Its tongue-and-groove joinery ensures a seamless installation with a continuous timber surface.

The microgrooved design traps and scatters sound waves on the surface, and when paired with an acoustic backing like rockwool or mineral wool, it effectively reduces reverberation and echo in interiors.

Yes — these panels are suitable for installation on both walls and ceilings in sound-sensitive spaces such as offices, classrooms, studios, libraries, and commercial interiors where acoustic control and design aesthetics are important.

The Microgrooved 8/2 panel can be manufactured with base materials such as MDF, fire-resistant MDF, eco-friendly MDF, black MDF, composite boards, or OSB, and finished with paint, melamine, polypropylene (PP), or real wood veneer for flexible design integration.

Yes — Timberix™ microgrooved panels are made from eco-friendly, recyclable materials, and the design emphasizes sustainability by minimizing waste and promoting long-lasting performance in architectural applications.
