Microperforated V 3.6/1.8/0.5

Timberix™ Microperforated panel is made with a 2-layer perforation structure, which traps and diffracts sound in the holes. The sound that passes through the perforation is further absorbed by acoustic substrate such as fiberglass or mineral wool, which reduces reverberation in the room. The perforation of 0.5mm micro-holes is only perceptible at a short eye distance (+/- 250 000 holes/m2) and laminated on a 15mm thick perforated MDF eco-friendly board.

Technical Drawing

The Timberix™  V 3.6/1.8/0.5 perforated panel features 3.6mm and 1.8mm diameter staggered perforation spaced 0.5mm apart. The design efficiently diffuses and absorbs sound, making it ideal for sound-sensitive environments.

Non-perforated

Sound Absorption Coefficient

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Microperforated V 3.6/1.8/0.5 panel is a timber acoustic panel with a staggered perforation pattern featuring 3.6 mm and 1.8 mm diameter holes spaced 0.5 mm apart, engineered with a two-layer microperforation structure that traps and diffracts sound into an underlying acoustic substrate to reduce reverberation in interior environments.

This microperforated pattern increases the interaction of sound waves with the panel by allowing them to enter the tiny perforations and be guided into a backing material such as mineral wool or fibreglass, where the energy is absorbed, lowering echo and reverberation more effectively than flat untreated wood surfaces.

These panels are ideal for walls and ceilings in sound-sensitive interiors such as offices, libraries, lecture halls, studios, auditoriums, and commercial environments where reducing background noise and improving speech clarity are important, all while preserving a refined timber finish.

In the Timberix naming convention, “V” denotes a staggered perforation layout, the numbers “3.6” and “1.8” refer to the two different perforation diameters incorporated in the design, and “0.5” represents the spacing between perforations in millimetres, which together help define both visual texture and acoustic interaction of the panel.

Yes — Timberix™ microperforated panels are made from eco-friendly, recyclable materials, and the design is intended to work with an acoustic substrate to achieve reduced reverberation performance, with products generally tested to ISO 354 acoustic standards for sound absorption in interior environments.
