Microperforated V 4/4/0.5

Timberix™ Microperforated panel is made with a 2-layer perforation structure, which traps and diffracts sound in the holes. The sound that passes through the perforation is further absorbed by acoustic substrate such as fiberglass or mineral wool, which reduces reverberation in the room. The perforation of 0.5mm micro-holes is only perceptible at a short eye distance (+/- 250 000 holes/m2) and laminated on a 15mm thick perforated MDF eco-friendly board.

Technical Drawing

The Timberix™  V 4/4/0.5 perforated panel features 0.5mm diameter staggered perforation spaced 4mm apart. The design efficiently diffuses and absorbs sound, making it ideal for sound-sensitive environments.

Non-perforated

Sound Absorption Coefficient

Timberix™ is tested to ISO 354 Standards, which is the measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room. The difference in the reverberation times is a measure of the amount of absorption in the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Microperforated V 4/4/0.5 is an acoustic timber panel with 0.5 mm diameter micro-holes spaced 4 mm apart in a staggered (V) pattern, engineered using a two-layer perforation structure that traps and diffracts sound into an acoustic substrate like fibreglass or mineral wool to reduce reverberation and echo in interior spaces.

The dense array of tiny, staggered perforations increases sound interaction with the panel surface so that sound waves enter the holes and are guided into an acoustic backing, where the energy is absorbed, leading to lower echo and reverberation compared with flat, untreated wood surfaces—making it suitable for spaces with noise-control needs.

These panels are ideal for walls and ceilings in sound-sensitive environments such as offices, libraries, meeting rooms, lecture halls, studios, auditoriums, and commercial spaces that require enhanced speech clarity and background noise reduction without compromising a sleek timber aesthetic.

In the panel code, “V” indicates a staggered microperforation arrangement, the paired “4/4” refers to horizontal and vertical spacing between the perforations (4 mm each), and “0.5” means the hole diameter (0.5 mm), together defining both the perforation density and acoustic interaction of the panel.

Yes — Microperforated V 4/4/0.5 panels are manufactured from eco-friendly, recyclable materials and are acoustically tested to ISO 354 standards, which measure sound absorption performance in a reverberation room setup, helping ensure they contribute to effective reverberation control in interior environments.
